PATHWAYS CLASSES
Something for everyone . . . Begins September 8, 2010

The Patriachs:
by Beth Moore
(women's group)
This study of Genesis 12-50 explores God’s pursuit of a relationship with man and God’s plan to bless all people through one man. The Patriarchs is one of Beth Moore’s finest studies and contains excellent information on the beginnings of the Hebrew people.
Group leader: Diane Graybill

The Invisible War:
Spiritual Warefare Explained
by Chip Ingram
Beneath our tangible landscape lurks an invisible spiritual realm where unseen battles rage. It's real. And it's dangerous. Satan intends to “steal, kill and destroy,” but God details in his Word how to resist evil lies and deception. This study on spiritual warfare has a special emphasis on Ephesians 6.
Group leader: Dave Dargan

Support Group for Parents of Teens
Parents of teenagers face unique challenges as they work to encourage and advise their children. This group gives moms and dads the opportunity to pray together and lend support to one another by sharing their experiences.                                                                                           :

Facing Your Giants
by Max Lucado

This is a study of the life of King David-an unlikely hero who was consumed with an awesome God. David’s story encompasses both a life of incredible victory and of personal tragedy. Through his story you can be reminded that if you focus on your giants, you may stumble. If you focus on God, the giants will tumble. Let David’s devotion and God’s provision help you face your challenges with confidence.
Group leader: Dave Gerber

Extraordinary Marriage
(by Rodney and Selma Wilson)
Marriage is a journey. The authors of this study challenge couples to concentrate on the future, providing  them with a step-by-step vision of God’s plan for their marriages…and a way to get there.
Group leaders: Tom & Diane Abbott

Childcare is provided Wednesday's.
Extended care may be provided when adult choir or the Bible studies
need to meet until 8:30.  Arrangements for this should be made as
least one week prior to the need.

Compass Point Bible Study
"Whoever serves me must follow me, and
where I am, there will my servant be also."
John 12:26

This fall we begin a new weeknight Bible study. Compass Point seeks to provide direction for our lives through in-depth exploration of Scripture, beginning with a study of Romans. This will be for men and women and will meet on Thursday nights from 7-8:30 pm.   Compass Point runs from September 9-December 2; January 6-February 24 for the Romans study, then finishes the year with a study of Philippians from March 3-April 28.  Our adult education committee has compiled a statement regarding our church’s Bible studies, which I share with you now. Compass Point Bible Study hopes to create an environment like the one described below.

About Theological Differences
In our Bible studies, we seek to create a comfortable atmosphere for people from different denominational backgrounds and all stages of spiritual maturity. Many theologians, honest and God-fearing men and women, will come to different conclusions in their interpretation of Scripture, yet still remain within the confines of Christian orthodoxy. We advocate listening with respect and sometimes “agreeing to disagree,” avoiding criticism of other Christian denominations. Our core belief is in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as our way to salvation and eternal reconciliation with God.   This is God’s gift through grace and not through action on our part, other than to say, “I believe.”
