The Lighthouse Academy at Newburg     (www.thelighthousecenter.org)

The Lighthouse is a vital community center in the Newburg/Norfolk area that seeks to bring about long-term positive moral, and educational change in the lives of children in this area. In operation since 1999, the Lighthouse provides after-school and summer programs focusing on educational development, art, music and gym activities. During the regular school year, opportunities are offered in homework assistance, choir, art, karate, career choices, basketball and other activities. Lighthouse’s themed summer program includes a nutritious meal provided by Dare to Care, academic enrichment, and field trips. A basketball program operates year-round in our gym.

The Lighthouse offers these “at risk” youth a fun, safe learning environment as an alternative to gangs, violence, and drugs. It has been proven that, because The Lighthouse exists, lives have been changed.

The Lighthouse depends upon the generosity of individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations to provide us with our operating funds. Thank you for your help.
