Forgotten Louisville Ministry at MUMC is branching out and updating it’s name to reflect an expanded focus beyond homeless in downtown Louisville. The new name is Mercy Ministries: Serving the Forgotten Ones.
Jesus instructs us to care for the poor and needy. Together our MUMC family has been faithful in caring for our homeless in downtown Louisville and we will continue to remain faithful to this critical ministry.
This ministry’s leadership team has long felt that we could do more. Homelessness, hunger and loneliness is not isolated to a small downtown area only. These needs exist in South Louisville, Portland and even right in our own back yard of Middletown. You may even know of needs not served and we would love to hear from you.
We are a blessed congregation and we recognize that our resources and time can be directed to reach additional marginalized people who are among the forgotten in our culture.
We are the same group, still serving homeless, but now looking to extend beyond a single lot in downtown Louisville. We will be asking for your continued support and even offering additional opportunities if you are interested.
If you are interested in serving or learning about more opportunities, send an email to Amy Davenport at email@example.com or contact our Associate Pastor, Trent Lloyd, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Support can take many forms, and all will be critical in this ministry. These include:
- Funding – donations to the church should indicate the new name Mercy Ministries to ensure they are set aside for this outreach
- Kitchen food prep and meal planning
Look for more information in the coming weeks.
