Why Do We Tithe?

Tithing is simply the practice of giving 10% of your income to your local church. Tithing is a response to the covenant that we have with God and it flows freely from the heart. For many, giving in this manner is the benchmark for spiritual growth.

It encourages the habit of focusing on God, being better stewards of what God has given us, and empowering His ministries. Tithing is between you and God. We will never ask for your financial details.

Giving FAQ

What does my money go toward?
Your giving makes ministry at Middletown United Methodist Church possible – resourcing missions in the community and the world, providing salaries for our ministry and support staff, resourcing life-changing ministries, and maintaining our beautiful newly renovated campus.
Is online giving safe? Is your site secure?
Yes! We take very seriously the security of your personal information and data. Your payment method details are tokenized and stored on industrial grade servers where the information is encrypted. Please review the Vanco Security Overview for more details.
Are there specific initiatives that I can give to?
All gifts received go directly to the general fund, unless a different designation is noted. For more information about designated gifts, please contact our Business Administrator, Matt Bauer.
Can I give through my bank account?
Yes, simply choose the Bank Account option when selecting your payment method. You can give using a checking or savings account.
Can I use my debit card or credit card?
Yes. We accept any debit or credit card issued by Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
Are there any hidden fees or charges to give online?
The dollar amount that you select to give will be recorded on your contribution statement, without any fees removed. However, the church does incur fees for processing online gifts. If you would like to help cover those fees, you will be given that option when you complete your gift. The most cost effective way to maximize your giving is to give online from your bank account, instead of using a credit card, as the fees will substantially less. To give this way, simply choose the Bank Account option as your payment method whenever you make a one-time gift or set up a recurring giving schedule.
What if I have a question about my giving?
We’re here to help and happy to assist. Contact our Business Administrator, Matt Bauer, with any questions.
