Open/Close Menu Connect. Grow. Serve.

Greetings people of Middletown UMC! Our Mercy Ministries: Serving the Forgotten Ones (formerly Forgotten Louisville) relaunched on October 18th, 2020 by partnering with the organization Fed with Faith to provide 250 sack lunches to the homeless and vulnerable populations across the city of Louisville. One of the things we have missed as a congregation is the ability to serve and support our neighbors and we are excited to be serving again!

We value the relationships that form when serving our neighbors in person, but in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,  it was safe for us to do a fresh, onsite meal as we have done in the past. We hope that we can get back to this kind of serving, but now feel it is safest to prepare and send lunches out.

Here’s where we need YOUR help! We need 250 sack lunches prepared and brought to church on every 3rd Sunday of the month. The sack lunches need to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich along with a salty snack (chips, nuts, etc) and a sweet snack (candy, fruit snacks, etc). Bonus points if you want to include an encouraging note or if your kids would like to include some original artwork.

You are welcome to purchase all the supplies if you would like. But the church will provide paper bags and snacks if you prefer. You can pick them up before or after church on Sunday or by coming by the church office during regular office hours (8:30am-5:00pm)

On the 3rd Sunday we will have collection points in the Sanctuary Lobby and outside the Connection Center

This is a great opportunity for youth to get service hours, or just something to do while you binge watch your next Netflix series.

We want to be sure that we meet our goal of 250! So please let Pastor Leslie (lrobinette@middletownumc.org) know how many lunches you plan on making so that we can plan accordingly.

Grace + peace,

Pastor Leslie
