We have heard much about the critical importance of essential workers and first responders as our community continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to so many other challenges, our families are faced with contending with a virtual-learning situation.
The church has decided to act NOW on this dire need for families. That is why we are offering up part of our building to church families and the community as a place for children to come for supervised learning. We are calling this NTI program a Sanctuary of Learning.
Our goal is to give hard working parents a safe place to bring their kids. With volunteers, we can provide a supervised space for K-5 students to gather and connect digitally using a powerful WiFi connection. Screened volunteers will oversee the students and help them maintain social distancing and proper sanitizing protocol.
As we will have limited space in the program, we will be filling spaces on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students will be responsible for bringing their own supplies and technology to connect to online learning. The program will run Monday through Friday from 8:30am-12:30pm, however, based on availability of volunteers and needs of families, we may offer the program from 8:30am-3:30pm. You will be able to indicate your needs on the sign up form.
There are two forms listed below. The first is to sign up to be a volunteer. Please prayerfully consider helping in this ministry! We’d like to include high schoolers who are interested in volunteering – come with your laptop and work beside the students. This is a great way to mentor and gain service hours. The days and hours will be based on the number of volunteers and the number of families that sign up, within the parameters of ensuring a safe ratio of supervisors to students.
The second form is to sign up your child for the program. Once you receive confirmation of a spot in our program, we will email forms that will need to be filled out and turned in on the first day.
